Good news and bad news. The bad news you can probably guess 'cause the Fifa virus is going around. Before we focus on the pain: some initial pain-relief in the form of two pieces of good news and two damn hot men.

Swoon-worthy news...Collapse )

The Guardian newspaper has a Sami Khedira quiz today!

I got 8/10 - I couldn't remember how many league goals for Stuttgart and couldn't remember what city Germany played Greece!

Have fun!

A late congratulations, Mr Khedira!

Thanks you, but for what?

With the 4:0 win over Getafe you celebrated your 50th league victory with Real Madrid.

Thanks, but it isn't something you made a fuss about. But it's a nice number and it makes me proud, even though I'd have preferred more victories.

How often do you remember the early days? What was going through your head when you played for the first time against Mallorca in the league in Aug 2010?

I remember that very well. I was a little disappointed, that I didn't play from the beginning. The team was newly assembled but the coach tried to instill as much stability as possible into the team. For that reason, very few new players got a start. I sat next to Mesut Ozil on the bench, and it was very trying because we didn't know what we could expect. As I came on it was, of course, a very special moment in my career.

Any of you who know me will know I ADORE a certain loan-signing from Chelsea. Namely: Michael Essien! In fact, it is difficult to express my adoration for "The Bison" properly - far-and-away Madrid's most adorable man (when I fall for a player, I fall hard)!

So imagine my thrill when the following showed up on Instagram (via andriy_7, of course!)

And imagine what it was like to see this in response.

The Bison responded...Collapse )

Glad to see the Spanish lessons are paying off ;)

Sami Khedira gave a typically calm and almost disdainful interview to the press today. It was in response to reports earlier this week that Mesut Ozil and Jose Mourinho do not get along - and that there are several squad factions which is causion difficulty in the locker-room.
Sami Khedira and Mesut Özil laugh at their critics

FussballEuropa.com (derived from an interview given to SPORTBILD)

Midfield player Sami Khedira explains that, like Mesut Özil, he always has a good laugh over what the Spanish newspapers write about them. He also plays down the rumours that there are any problems between Jose Mourinho and Mesut Özil.

Sami Khedira has confirmed publically that there are no problems between Jose Mourinho and Mesut Özil. "The coach and Mesut have zero problems with one another" (null Komma null ein Problem miteinander) says the 25 year old in an interview with Sport Bild. Recently it was rumoured in the Spanish press that Jose Mourinho had harangued his play-maker in front of his assembled team and that their relationship had entered the deep-freeze.

Sami Khedira takes Spanish media reports in stride. Extreme criticism and effusive praise do not affect the national team player. Indeed, he and his teammates have a good laugh sometimes over the reports that are printed.

"We laugh over the praise and the criticism," explains Khedira. "One day Mesut is a magician from another galaxy, the next he's of fourth-division quality. We can't possibly take this seriously."

Khedira takes the gap between Real Madrid and Barcelona far more seriously - 13 points through the latter part of the season. We haven't functioned well as a team and were struggling as individuals. Like last year, we have to start competing as a unit.
